Gladys finally ended up working at the home of Tello and Lisa Peterson, where she met Harvey Peterson. They farmed at Opal, in Meade County, living in the sod house on the Harvey Talley ranch.
In 1939, they moved to Sturgis for a short time, then to Faith, then returning to Opal. Gladys said she always wished for a house with a lot of bedrooms, so in 1961 they moved to Faith and purchased the West Hotel. ) They ran the hotel for 20 years and farmed north of Faith.Calvin attended Squaw Butte School for grades 1-8, a horseback ride of about three and a half miles.He attended tenth grade at Fox Ridge School near Maurine and completed high school, graduating from Newell High School in 1940.They had four children, Lois Luverne Peterson, Mark Le Roy Peterson, Sr., Marilynn Joyce Peterson Aasheim, and Carl Harvey Peterson, Sr. As babysitting was not the norm, the children were always taken to the dances.
